| Good day fellow subscribers,
For many years RSVP volunteers have been meeting the needs in Santa Cruz County by lending a hand in schools, hospitals, museums as well as a multitude of other areas in the community. In 2003 RSVP volunteers contributed 300,000 hours at more then 90 community based organizations. We are always looking for new and exciting ways for RSVP volunteers to serve. We have an exciting opportunity to assist with disaster preparedness on various committees that plan and organize teams and training. Positions are also available to write grants to raise funds for disaster preparedness and response training supplies. Become a part of making your community safer. |

Recognition
RSVP volunteer Sally Smith was recently honored as a valuable volunteer by Santa Cruz County for her years of service with the Santa Cruz School's Reading Program. She has been workng with the children in classes at Live Oak Elementary for the past 10 years. The teacher Sally works with describes how the students’ faces light up when she walks in the room. "There are not enough words that could describe the qualities that Sally brings to the classroom year after year." The students have more confidence in themselves because of her valuable service. Her patience with the children shows the love she has for them. They will work extra hard to learn a new skill just so they can show her. Just a day in the life of an RSVP Volunteer! RSVP would like to congratulate Sally and thank her for her dedication to the students at Live Oak Elementary and the Reading Program. |
