Adding New Volunteer Station Information

The more high-quality, impact-based volunteer stations that are entered into JASON, the more effective a tool it will be for senior service! Check out some sample description volunteer opportunities for RSVP, FGP, or SCP.

Tip:

You may also choose to highlight a general activity rather than an individual station. In this case, type in the name of the opportunity or activity (e.g., Tutoring Elementary School Students) in the Station Name field, and then add your project contact information, rather than the station contact. You may also add “one-time only” opportunities by typing the name of the event (e.g. MLK Day) in the Station Name field, and then selecting the appropriate start and end dates.

Follow the steps below to add station information to your project listing.

  1. Log in using your e-mail address and password if you are not already logged in. Go to the View Project List page in JASON.
  2. Click on Add New [Project Name] Station to Database link towards the top of the page. (see image below)

This will take you to a data entry form identical to the one you completed for your project information. The only difference is that this one will be completely blank. Fill in all the required information (denoted by red * ) and then click on Save Draft.

If the Submit Station button has disappeared you may need to do some editing. Look through your data entry screen for fields that have been highlighted in gray. This indicates that the field is incomplete, or that you have exceeded the maximum number of characters allowed in a text field.

  1. When you have completed the Station Listing form, click on Submit Station to alert the CNCS state office that you have added a new station that needs approval.
  2. Later, to make a station inactive, you may click on the Set Disable Status link in the blue navigation bar. Then click the Disabled button next to the station you no longer want. The station information will remain in the database, but will not be active for searching. To permanently delete a station, you may simply write over the information and save it as a different station. You will also notice that the disabled project now disappears from the Project Main Menu and View Project List pages, but can still be accessed from the Set Disable Status page.

Tip:

Take care not to disable your entire project, as this will block you out from being able to edit your project information.
